As my senator in the Texas Legislature, I urge you to support HB 1158 which will strengthen the energy industry in our state.

HB 1158 filed by Rep. Darby will make carbon capture projects eligible for TERP grant programs.

Carbon capture technology is a vital part of our energy future.

By supporting carbon capture, utilization, and storage, you can advocate for Texas’ most vital industry and encourage further investment in oil and gas production, all while helping to reduce emissions.

Texas has a strong energy and manufacturing industry, which employs hundreds of thousands of people. Making carbon capture projects eligible for Texas Emissions Reduction Plan (TERP) Grant Programs can help support new carbon capture projects, which will help maintain and grow these industries and jobs.

If Texas is to remain the energy capital of the world, we must build on this strong program — that has a long history — to encourage wider deployment of carbon capture technology that will benefit Texas both economically and environmentally for years to come.

I believe we must strengthen our energy industry for future generations of Texans. I urge you to vote in favor of HB 1158 this legislative session.
